Studying Slump

Something that I have always struggled with, especially in college, is losing motivation to study. Sometimes it's midway through going over notes, but more often than not it's before I even sit down to start. I've never been someone who can jump straight into a task, I like to ease in, but this seems like it gets worse when it comes to schoolwork. I like to call it my "studying slump," and it's honestly like my brain doesn't want to strain itself and do serious work, it would rather do anything else. Thinking about doing anything school related at first causes me to roll me eyes...majorly.
Because of this, I will typically do mindless or meaningless tasks before sitting down to study to help get my mind ready for the task ahead. Some of these mindless tasks to wake my brain up that I have found work for me include:
Washing the dishes
Going for a brief walk
Paint nails
Making my bed
Cleaning up around my room
Getting ready for the day
doing my hair or putting on actual clothes definitely helps
Coloring
investing in an adult coloring book was one of my better investments
Watching a short episode of a tv show
I try to keep it around 30 minutes or less. Currently I am watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but have also enjoyed Arrested Development and Brooklyn 99
Making food
be it a simple and small breakfast or lunch, I have found this definitely helps
Doing or folding a load of laundry
I had not ever really looked into this being an actual thing, but after looking into it, there seems to be many people that are actually affected by this. Women's Health actually wrote an article about how doing these types of tasks can actually jog and boost your production. After reading this, it made me a lot better about not being the only person who experiences this, and that it is actually quite common for many people!
all my best wishes and vibes,
Zoe
