Change of Scenery

Sometimes one of the reasons we lack the motivation to study is because of our environment. If we're not feeling our environment visually, it can really throw off our plans for what we wanted to do that day. I am extremely affected by this, and have learned over the past couple of years that if I have serious work that gets done, I cannot be in my bedroom. My mind automatically goes to the the thought of a nap and not the five page paper that I need to write. In fact, there are times that I cannot be productive in my apartment at all to get work done. When this happens, I'll go somewhere on campus like the Student Center, but sometimes that can be a little crowded and loud. And when this happens, it could only mean one thing: I need a change of scenery.

Slippery Rock isn't big with areas to do work besides the University, and maybe Sheetz, so I have tried to find places around the area that do. Starbucks is always one of my favorite places to go because the environment is quiet and comfortable, which makes it easy to study. Coffee shops in general seem to be my favorite environments to be in, which is why I am so happy that a Dunkin' Donuts recently opened in Grove City. I have spent plenty of time doing homework there while enjoying a nice iced coffee.

There are a couple local coffee shops both at school and at home that I have enjoy going to when I need to get homework done, but chain restaurants seem to be the easiest to find and go to. There is a website article that I have bookmarked on my phone that lists all of the chain restaurants available that I use as a rule of thumb when I need to find somewhere to go quick!

all my best wishes and vibes,

Zoe
